Murni

        Murni is one of the accommodation and one of the apartments for female students. In one apartment, there four rooms which each student get their own room with a small hall, with a bathroom and with  a toilet. Every apartment have internet with two ports which two students have to share one port. Otherwise, if u stay in Murni a wireless router have to buy yourself that allow u  to share with your friends who stay in your apartment.

        Murni is located infront of COE( Colledge of Engineering ) and Admin. So, students no more worried about getting food because in COE there are food court with variety of stalls, with variety of foods with different cultures. In addition, female student who taking engineering course they just walk to go to their classes without taking bus or car. It just take five minutes to walk to COE because it so near to Murni apartment.

       Moreover, there are also bus station near COE food court. So, female student who taking IT and CS courses they easily get facility such bus to go to COIT fot their classes. If u are taking any courses in Uniten more than that of u are female student, the best choice to stay in Uniten is Murni apartment.  By leaving in Murni u get more experience and u will get more fun with your friends who stay in Murni.

Cendikiawan

Cendikiawan is one of the apartments for students in UNITEN. Cendikiawan is the apartment for the male students and in one house, there is 4 rooms where every student will be having a room for themselves. Cendikiawan has 3 blocks and each block have 10 floors and every floors have 8 units. Every house is provided with internet which is required to be shared among everyone in the house. There are two ports in the house. If you wants to stay in cendikiawan, you should get yourself a wireless router which will allows you to share the internet among your housemates.

Cendikiawan is located next to the dss and all the sports facilities in UNITEN which is suitable for the male students. If you were to stay in Cendikiawan and interested in sports activitivities like football, futsal, basketball, tennis, badminton and volleyball. You can just walk to the facility provided which is just next to the apartment. If you are the type who likes to have some privacy and doesn't like sharing rooms with people, I recommend you to stay in Cendikiawan as you will be able to get a room just by yourself.

Now let me share with you some of my experience staying in Cendikiawan. Cendikiawan is a great place to live in as I get to join people who is playing futsal behind of my apartment and I get to know many of them as I play with them. Besides that, I get to go to class easily without having to take the bus or need a car as my college (COIT) is just next to Cendikiawan, I can just walk there which will only take me 5-10 minutes. Staying in Cendikiawan you don't have to worry about getting food too because there is a cafe just next to it which is in DSS. I have my dinner there every night and staying in Cendikiawan is very convenient for me as I could go to class easily, get to do something that I like and I don't have to worry about food as the cafe is just next to my apartment so I don't have to walk all the way to the food court which will take me about 15-20 minutes of walking.

So if you are the type who are active in sports and wants convenient and happen to be a male student, you can stay in Cendikiawan.

Ilmu

  Ilmu is one of the few accommodations available inside UNITEN. You could say that its the female counterpart of Amanah. In one room, 4 female students share the area and there are 2 bedrooms where 2 share one. I recommend that you stay in Ilmu if you don't mind the company. Ilmu is located across the lake as well, so you can go out and enjoy a walk in nature if you feel like doing so. If thats not enough, every room is equipped with an internet connection, and a bathroom as well.

  Now let me share with you some of my exciting personal experiences living in Ilmu... Now didnt you just enjoy those awesome and amazing tales? But seriously, if I had any experiences in there, it would be wrong, since I am a male student, so I have no idea how its like living there. Perhaps if you decide to stay there, you can share it with me, yes?

  So in short, Ilmu is one of the places to stay in UNITEN, if you happened to be born with the XX chromosomes.

Facilities in UNITEN

This week we will be talking about the facilities in University Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN).There are several facilities in UNITEN such as:

UNITEN Library

UNITEN Library is located just after the front gate. The vision of UNITEN library is "To be the knowledge centre that supports the vision and mission of the University." and the mission is "We are committed to deliver quality information services in fulfilling the needs of teaching and learning. The library is highly equipped information center with a full networking system. There are some discussion room and leisure reading area so that students can have their our time studying or have their discussion without disturbing others people.

The library provides general collection, books, periodicals, serials, conference papers, reports, standardsm and non-book materials which related to the courses provided by UNITEN. It also contains 100,000 volumes of books, journals, printed and non-printed materials throughout the library database. So that, students can access into the database at their hostel and home to do their research or studies. There were media services and internet service is provided at the library to enrich the student life. Students who tired studying at the library can relax and refresh themselves. There are also newspaper provided everyday so student can learn more about the news going on and updating themselves to the world. 

The Library operation hour is divided into two category which is during semester and during semester break.  During semester the library operation 9am to 10pm on weekdays, 9am to 2pm on Saturday and 9am to 5pm on Sunday. During semester break the library operation 9am to 5.15pm on weekdays, 9am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday is close. The library operation hours can be changed or extended according to the needs and study weeks. With this long hours of operation during the semester, students can visit the library when ever they want or on their free times to do revision. On semester break there will be some internationals students staying back so that they can have a bit of entertainment at the library.

 

COIT computer labs

  Today, I wanna talk about the computer labs in COIT or College of Information Technology. Because really, its the only facility that I personally feel that I can express my opinions on, as I use it the most frequently when compared to the others. The labs are used for teaching purposes by the lecturers or for students to spend their free time with. Of course, the students are not allowed to do anything inappropriate, if you know what I mean. The internet speed is pretty decent, you can stream videos on Youtube, download whatever needs downloading, surf Facebook or 9gag or whatever site you want. However, sometimes there are rowdy and noisy students present in a given lab. They tend to talk loudly as if no one else is there, and sometimes turn the volume on their PC really loudly as if they never heard of what ear phones are. I hope that the staff or related people do something about this.

  There are 2 floors that are equipped with computer labs, being the 3rd and 4th floor. Frankly speaking, the computers in the 3rd floor are a bit out of date compared to the ones on the 4th floor. I never see students there except when they have the unfortunate fortune of having classes there. The ones on the 4th floor are much more advanced, with better processors and everything. Personally, I'm not one on computer tech, as long as the computer loads quickly. The labs are divided depending on the tools required in the PCs. For example, the Information System labs are equipped with programming software, the Graphics and Multimedia or GM labs have digital drawing tools, and etc. The GM labs had a recent hardware update, and now is the most advanced lab in the building. However, the staff somehow decided that it's better to have that awesome lab locked and only open for classes. I don't know what to think of this. If computer labs are meant to be used by students then locking them pretty much defeats their purpose. Perhaps they thought that students would abuse them, or steal the hardware? But then again, what of the students that actually use the lab to do actual GM based operations?

  All in all, the computer labs in UNITEN are great and are a good addition to the available facilities. I am thankful for the labs and am optimistic of the facilities that will be available in UNITEN in the near future.
 

Transportation in UNITEN

Transportation is provided in UNITEN for students to get to class everyday and to the ktm station in serdang and the mines. The transportation in campus is free and the transportation to the ktm station and the mines will only cost us RM1.50.

The bus to classes in campus will stop at every college and apartment, so students can wait for the bus at every bus stop provided in the campus to ride on the bus to classes and back to their apartments. There are 2 bus moving around the campus every 30 minutes. The bus starts moving around the campus at 7 in the morning and the last bus is at 9 pm.

The shuttle to ktm station and the mines will stop at the students apartment at the specific time before leaving to the ktm station and the mines. The shuttle is available to students everyday but students are require to purchase the ticket from the finance department at the admin building.

With all this transportation provided to us, we can save time and get to class on time. Besides that, we can save money to travel out of the campus to the ktm station and the mines. Students don't have to call for a taxi to go out to the mines and ktm station to return to their hometown.
